artist's statement
I am randomly inspired - an unusual color combination, emotions, nature,
every day things, photos. I enjoy experimenting with techniques, subjects,
colors and materials. Sometimes I complete a few sketches before beginning
a painting and other times I let the canvas and paint guide the creative process.
I love creating commissioned pieces because it presents the unique opportunity
to collaborate with someone and create artwork that specifically complements
a unique space.
As far as influences, I count numerous artists as inspiration and sources of influence. However, the ones that immediately come to mind are Varnette Honeywood, Romare Bearden, Pablo Picasso, Jacob Lawrence, Jackson Pollack, Georgia O'Keeffe and Vincent Van Gogh.
The creative process brings me immense joy and I am eternally thankful for the opportunity to do something that is so much fun and that is enjoyed and appreciated by others. Thank You!
